Duration: 16 weeks

Schedule/Format: Hybrid. Online instruction four days a week plus one day of face-to-face Professional Development each week. Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm for 16 weeks.

Security Fundamentals offers the opportunity to earn the Comp TIA A+ certification, while also equipping you with knowledge of networking and security fundamental concepts through hands-on learning. Additionally, at the conclusion of each course, a small group of learners will have the opportunity to engage in live cybersecurity tactical exercises at Metropolitan State University’s award-winning Cybersecurity Center.

Location: Online, with in-person professional development sessions at ActivateWork: 1700 Lincoln Street, 17th Floor Denver, CO 80203 and hands-on training at PC's for People: 6035 E 38th Ave, Denver, CO 80207

Program Cost: Free

Jobs Starting At: $23/hr

Minimum Requirements: 18 or older; High School diploma or equivalent; authorized to work in the U.S.; live within commutable distance of the ActivateWork site; can read, write and speak in English; attend classes full-time for the entire duration of the course; available to work full time. Able to pass a Math and Literacy assessment at the 10th grade level or higher.

Physical Needs / Demands: Ability to sit in front of computer for long periods of time.

About Roles in This Field

IT Support offers the opportunity to earn the CompTIA A+ certification, equipping you with skills in networking, various operating systems, and Active Directory set-up and management. Incorporated into this course is a 8-week hands-on lab at PCs for People. You will be able to fill a wide range of early career technology jobs such as Tier I/II Helpdesk, Support Technician, Jr. System Administrator, among others.
