Duration: 4 weeks

Schedule/Format: Work for Denver Health as a Behavioral Health Technician for $20/hr with full healthcare benefits, while pursuing a no-cost 4-week certification that leads to promotion within a year to $25/hr.

Location: Denver Health Main Hospital and Clinics (Psychiatric, CARES, Eating Disorders, etc.)

Training Provider: Denver Health

Program Cost: Free. Note that this pathway allows you to work full-time as a Behavioral Health Technician at Denver Health while working toward your BHT certification. Apply with Denver Health as a Behavioral Health Technician, and your application will be fast-tracked to enroll in the BHT certification pathway.

Jobs Starting At: Earn $20/hr as a BHT while working toward certification that leads up to $25/hr.

Minimum Requirements: High school degree or GED; BLS-Basic Life Support Certification (1-day training to complete before you apply, available through AHA or Red Cross); 2 years of care experience. Background and reference check, drug screen, standard vaccinations required, TB test, authorized to work in the U.S., ability to communicate clearly and maintain effective working relationships. Minimum age 18.

Physical Needs / Demands: Clinical environment, high levels of patient interactions. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Must be able to support, push, and pull 50 pounds.

Best-Fit Learner Profile: Interested in medical field. Likes working other medical professionals to provide excellent patient care. Good de-escalation skills and able to be empathetic and patient. Interest in working in a clinical environment.

About Roles in This Field

A Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for providing a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment for psychiatric patients. This certification can be a pathway to becoming a Behavioral Health Tech I-III or Behavioral Health Educator.
